(( too busy ))

26 November 07 - 16:15

Ok, so I've been busy.  I forgot about posting all the "fun" crap here.  T day sucked.  I felt sick no matter what I tried to eat, but forced myself anyway.  Found a new favorite food, will post later.  Braved Walmart, on saturday, never friday.  What a mess!!!  They have crap piled every where.  Ugh.  Cleaned my house for no one, didn't sleep in even once in the four days I was off.  AND found out 5lbs of frozen chicken can really damage your foot.  I dropped it on the top of my foot and am really really bruised now and can't where certain shoes.  Oh and the really great news (sarcasm) CHRISTMAS IS COMING!  Now for those who know me, and those who don't I ABSO-FRIGGING-LUTELY HATE CHRISTMAS!!!  Yup I am scrouge.

(( but it makes me look puffy! ))

16 November 07 - 10:23

Oddly enough, after posting yesterday about children with wls parents, my youngest tells me she doesn't want to wear her winter coats cause they make her look PUFFY!  My response: who cares if you are warm.  But in the back of my mind I remember that this may be the start of future eating disorders.  What do I do now?  She is no where near the size of her sister at that age, but yet she is overweight.  I do not want my children to struggle as I did.  And I do not want them to have eating disorders.  On the other hand, my 10 year old thinks it is soooo cool that mom can wear her clothes.  I tried on her pants today just on a whim, they are a girls 16 1/2 and they fit.  This makes me joyful but also aware that she is overweight for her age.  My goal weight is less than what she weighs now.  Will this lead to disorders?  I have no idea how to help my children with this problem as I am struggling myself.  I may be losing ... (( marriage after wls ))

15 November 07 - 09:44

Taken from http://www.asbs.org/archive/abstracts/posters_edited_2006.pdf

One year after surgery, relationship satisfaction (4.1 +/- 1.1; p < .05) and weight-related sexual difficulties (p < .05) were significantly improved. Most married patients were still married (97%) and only 3 % had separated from their spouses.

Conclusion: This prospective study demonstrates that WLS patients report improvements in relationship satisfaction and weight-related sexual quality of life one year after surgery, while experiencing minimal disruption to their marital relationships.

So divorce is not always immenent after wls.  This is good news.  Although this study doesn't show the percentage of those who were having difficult issues before wls, and if this brought on the divorce after ... (more)

(( Children of weight loss surgery patients may be at risk for eating disorders ))

15 November 07 - 09:31

TAKEN FROM : LIVINGAFTERWLS.COM

As parents who’ve had gastric bypass or lap band weight loss surgery we face many challenges raising a family. Perhaps an unexpected challenge is when a child develops an eating disorder that may be exacerbated by the parents dieting habits. It turns out as our children observe us diet and fail (repeatedly) before having gastric bypass, then they watch us lose weight in an almost obsessive excitement after weight loss surgery (WLS), some panic and vow “this will not happen to me.” A descent into an eating disorder may follow.

According to AnorexiaBulimaHelp “Dieting or restriction of certain foods, or excessive dieting from parents” is a contributing factor in teen and pre-teen eating disorders. In addition “The appearance obsessed society most people live in can contribute to eating disorders . . . When combined with a low self-esteem, feelings of depression or anxiety or isolation, the effects can be devastating. ... (more)

(( Is your pouch still working? ))

15 November 07 - 08:43

I hear this question asked all the time on other sites.  Or I hear, what is the plateau diet?  While doing research for another entry I came across this site, check it out, maybe it will help.  Good luck.  http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html

(( who pissed off the pouch? ))

15 November 07 - 08:36

I got sick again last night.  No idea what caused it this time.  I ate slow and chewed well.  We had veggie lo mein and sliced pork with bbq sauce.  All of which I have had before and been fine.  So what the f**k?  I am so tired of being sick.  Wish I had the magic spell to relieve this problem.

(( hero worship ))

09 November 07 - 10:13

Do you worship your surgeon?  I do.  My surgeon, Dr Moon, is so great.  He really made sure I understood the procedure, without treating me like a child.  He will also be my husbands surgeon.  Even with all the problems, my hubby still wants to go through with his.  It's great!  They have also helped me find a plastic surgeon.  Any questions or problems and they make sure to get you in right away if they can't help you over the phone.

(( plateau's ))

09 November 07 - 10:10

I know plateau's are a normal part of wls.  But I have only had one.  During that time is when I lost the most amount of inches.  Totally I have lost 68? inches.  I have not hit a plateau in 3 months.  I am still losing weight so not complaining but inch wise nothing I have only lost 3 in over 2 months.  Will I plateau any time soon?  Will keep you posted.  Can't wait for plastic surgery though.  I have a consult scheduled March 3, 2008 for a breast reduction and lift.  But due to insurance I have to wait til one year post op and 6 months maintain to have my tummy done.  When that is done, I should be able to fit in at least two sizes less in a pant size.  Yeah!!  Are you having ps and on what?  Let me know if you have had it and what you went through.  I love to hear the stories and what the possibilities are.

(( bra shopping ))

08 November 07 - 10:57

I went shopping Tuesday.  I really need a new bra.  I have lost 10 inches in the band size and two cup sizes.  I was a 48 f cup now at 5 months out am a 38 DD.  My girls look horrible, like tube socks with bricks in the bottom.  I basically have to roll them into a bra and pray they stay put all day.  Thinking finding a bra now would be easy off I went to the bug.  Got very frustrated.  Who the hell thought that a full cup could be held together by one little piece of string in the front?  They must be insane.  Couldn't find anything there.  Went to wal-mart.  Tried on a few.  Realization hit - I have lost more in my left than my right.  How am I supposed to get a bra for that?  After trying on three, I am now in tears and depressed.  I didn't get any.  I did though find a pair of dress pants that I did get.  I couldn't beleive the tag.  They are a ... (( my crazy life ))

08 November 07 - 10:50

I have come to the conclusion that my life is nuts.  I have two kids, two dogs, three ferrets, one cat and one pain in the ass husband who might as well be a kid.  If I am not running around shopping for the house/kids, then I am running around to dr's appts.  Then have I said I am also a coach for an Allstar Cheerleading squad.  So there goes any possible extra time I might have.  I also work fulltime.  School events are a joke.  So what am I getting at?  Yesterday - no blogging for me.  I got to work at 8am, by 8:30 my hubby calls.  He is having chest pain, what should he do?   Uhhh, not again (he has a history of anxiety and chest pain).  9:30 his work calls they are rushing him to the ER.  Well since I am an hour away, just keep me informed.  I figured it was muscle pain cause he was lifting things.  11:30 I hear nothing so I call.  He is being put through a ton of ... (( will it ever stop ))

06 November 07 - 16:15

I am so tired of being dizzy.  Last night I fell over twice (course it was after exercising) but today I fell again.  I get this whooshy feeling and everything starts spinning.  Do I ever get a break?  I don't think my ass can take falling anymore, there is no longer any padding there.  What could be still causing this?  I am getting enough to drink.

(( WHOA! ))

06 November 07 - 11:32

So, I felt well enough after physical therapy yesterday to try a little more exercise.  How did that go you ask?  It took 1 hour for my world to stop spinning.  I decided to put my treadmill to work.  I walked 1/4 mile for the first time since surgery 6/7/07.  I fell twice in the kitchen trying to get a drink after and had the worst dizzy spell I have had in months.  My feelings on this . . . me + treadmill= trip to the hospital.  I know I need to exercise or this last 30 lbs will not be coming off, but how the hell am I supposed to accomplish that if I can't move without wanting to pass out?  Any suggestions are highly welcome.  Things to come: me + swimming= ?

(( CLEARING MY MIND (FROM MY OH BLOG) ))

06 November 07 - 11:27

I know, I know I haven't updated in awhile, well here is why . . . I haven't been here lately, I am tired of reading people complaining about negativity of others.  WELL, maybe some people have the right to be negative.  Others need to be aware that THIS SURGERY IS NOT ALL FUN AND GAMES.  There can be and have been serious side effects.  I feel that with all the research I did, all the reading of blogs, and posting, I only really heard the wonderful and great things - never saw the negative.  Why is that?  Because if anyone post anything negative then everyone starts having a hissy fit.  I for one think the negative has been more informative than the positive.  If only I had been able to find the information before I had my surgery.  I'm not saying I would not have had the surgery, but maybe thought longer and harder and done more research.
So why am I posting this? ... (more)

(( MY STORY ))

06 November 07 - 10:57

Ok, so here is my story.  My name is Collette.  I am married(Bill) with two kids, Megan 10 and Abby 4 and 30 years old.  I have been overweight my whole life but up until recently had stayed the same weight for 5 years.  In the last 6 months I have gained 28 lbs. and numerous medical problems.    In 2003, less than one year after I had our youngest daughter, I was diagnosed with insulin resistance.  This causes your body to think that it is not getting enough insulin and making it want to eat to get it(or so I have been told).  And poly cystic ovarian syndrome. ...
